Hola queridos
Aqui les dejo un trocito del viaje que hice a La Laguna, San Andres de
Cohamiata, Mesquitic, Jalisco…es largo el titulo…pos mas largo es el
viaje entre camiones y raites (forma mexica de decir ride). Fue bonito y fue duro tambien, lo he hecho con la ilusion de poder servir de puente entre nuestros recursos y sus necesidades, Don Jose y yo conocemos gente en Nueva York y en otros sitios que puede quiza echar una mano, para mi es una especie de deuda del corazon, por todo lo aprendido atraves de la presencia de Don Jose. Realmente lo que esta gente preserva y conoce es un regalo impagable para nosotros. 
No soy reportera, y ya se que la grabacion en si misma es tremendamente deficiente, (lo siento) pero es lo que habia…como lo que se come ahi cada dia: lo que hay: basicamente maiz, frijol y alguna calabaza, algun poco de leche, casi nada de frutas. Un camion de un mestizo que se llama Fidel y con quien viaje de vuelta a Huejuquilla viene dos veces a la semana, es el unico, trae algo de frutas, huevos, cafe, y otras cositas para las dos tienditas de La Laguna
la de Refugio y la de Maria….en nene mas pequeno de todos, nieto de Don Jose, estuvo a puntito de morirse desnutrido. La gran cantante es Perlasalia…los portadores de agua Bernardo y Alma Xochitl…el muchacho del sombrero es el sobrino de Don Jose, Maurilio Ramirez. Me gustaria volver y grabarles bien y compartir con ellos mas cosas, pero lo importante es que consigamos dar con las personas que puedan interesarse por el tema del agua…alguien que pueda ir a   hacer un estudio serio sobre el terreno, ayuda de tecnicos, instituciones o particulares, pues hay varias comunidades afectadas en el area. Se necesitan construir una o varias presas. Parece que esto del agua es una cosa del gobierno de aqui, el llamamiento que hace el marakame es para ellos, y todos nosotros tambien, “alguien que nos pueda echar una mano con este problema”, dice textualmente, no estamos aqui para sustituir poderes sino para colaborar en lo que se pueda. La Laguna tiene 120 familias y carecen de agua desde que en el 82 hicieran una escuela primaria alli que atrajo a familias dispersas, desde entonces no alcanza, y no pueden cultivar nada que requiera riego, y comprar lo que trae Fidel no todo el mundo puede, de modo que es casi puro maiz y frijol lo que la mayoria come todo el tiempo…el pueblo principal, San Andres, tiene ya 500 familias, calculan que entre todos (San Miguel, San Jose, Santa Catalina, etc) puedan ser 3000 familias con el mismo problema…
tengo muchos mas videos tambien con trozos de su fiesta del tambor, si alguien necesita tenerlos que me avise.

Here are some bits of my trip to La Laguna, San Andres de Cohamiata, Mesquitic, Jalisco, Mexico…the trip was really long and difficult (pretty also, but hard) i had to do it to honour a soul debt i feel for this people who deeply touched my heart thru Don Jose’s being. What this people know and preserve is an inmense present for ourselves. We both know some friends in New York (and Europe) so the issue here is to call the attention of all of you see if we can get people to help in the construction of a dam. Institutions, private resorces, i dont know. 
I am not a journalist and my camera, (i apologize for this) is really bad, but it is what was available…like food in La Laguna, you eat what there is, basically corn and beans, a little milk and some fruit once in a while and not available to everybody, there is a truck  that comes twice a week driven by a guy called Fidel who gave me a ride back to Huejuquilla and told me many stories…he provides with some groceries to the 2 little stores of la Laguna. The youngest baby was about to die of bad nutrition not long ago, Don Jose’s grandson. The great singer is Perlasalia…the 2 water carriers are Bernardo and Alma Xochilt, and the guy with the hat is Don Jose’s nephew, Maurilio Ramirez.
I wish i could return and record them nicely but for right now i would be just very thanfkful if we could find someone who could do a serious study of the water problems of the area for further possible colaborations, it is probably a thing of the mexican government but Don Jose simply asks for whatever help from “anybody”, we are not trying to substitute responsabilities, may all be a colaboration…La Laguna has120 families that have problems with water resources since in 1982 a primary school was built and ended up gathering all this people. They cannot cultivate anything with such restriction and the groceries that Fidel brings are too expensive for most of them, so they basically eat corn and beans. The main town, San Andres, has 500 families with the same problem, they calculate that between all the little towns around there should be around 3000 families with the same problem…
